I know you just wrote this as response #4 in your last post, but could you post it again on Abilities_as_Categories I would appreciate it. Again, I'm sorry to have to ask. I know we have gone over it already, but I guess there is still confusion and I'd like to put the topic to bed so I'll be aloud to make wiki entries again.
was my explanation confusing? If so I can try again but there were several others prior to this one that I felt were more detailed. As for your explanation, I agree with what your saying 100%. I'd just like to label items as the game does.
Kindragon got mad and left because he edited all my pages that reflected the data pattern you described in your post and I rolled back his changes. I was a bit peeved by that because all these pages were in an example showing what we were talking about. Kind of hard to show an example when folks dilibertly change it.
I do agree with the data pattern you showed in that other post, it just makes sense to refer to evereything as the game names it. It will help to not confuse new players.
Oh nor do I. We were describing the same thing, however you couldn't see that because my example was tampered with. Which was the only reason I was upset. If folks didn't like it that A-OK, but changing the files I was directly using in an example kind of ticked me off. I'd just like to seee the data reflect the same structure as in the game. I'm guess I was not as detailed as I could have been as well, but that was becuase it was the 3rd post basically saying the same thing, in response to "What are you doing?". Given your reply, I guess it could have been clearer in that final example though if you also didn't get the gist of it. But I'm glad we are all on the same page now.
Considering that you forgot, I edited your pages because they did not reflect the data pattern nor did they use templates to add the categories desribed. When asked point blank what category structure you would like to see you refused to answer and instead rambled on about other issues and posting links to other sites that did nothing to your case.
Now I'm upset I just said thank you for the comment you made. I Posted a long detailed description on your wall about the pattern 3x. The all said describe the data as in the game. I don't understand why it was so rough to look at the page and reply yes I see what you are saying or not. You wanted to merge all the data into less categories, which makes zero sense. Had you taken the time to look at the pages and the patterns you could have clearly understood. I don't know why you took it upon yourself to change those pages to how you wanted, while other people were involved in the conversation and commenting on what they saw. You just wanted everyone to vote your way, and didn't want to let others have a change to be apart of it. WTF is so hard to understand when I told you many times Mutations are not abalities. When I updated the Stats, Abilities, & tradeskill pages because I TOLD YOU that they should be the same as the UI shows. Also, the pages are still as I updated them, and If you can't follow the point I made on Category:Attributes As to how all the skills are listed under the Skills tree, I can only assume you didn't look or your an idiot. I showed you a tree view did you have to see me write in ascii;
Shit, had I know I could have pasted that I would have. Needless to say this is right on that page. Did you really look at the page?
As for Templates, if there isn't one yet I can't use it now can I? There is nothing wrong with adding categories. If there is no Alpha County (Missions) I can create the stub in advance. Templates are created to ease the data capture process, but they don't capture all the functionality. For example, there is no hook in the template to catch Serendipity Mobs, so I MUST add the category manually. There is no reason to add that to the template, they just become more complicated than they need to be, which makes it harder for other members to maintain.
Tell you what, from now on you ignore me and I'll ignore you.
"...As for the second part, I thought I went into good detail in the post I wrote last week on your wall. But, to nutshell it look at Category:Attributes See how it displays the Skills subcategory. Then when you expand that you see all of the "skills" only. Then Expand "Power" I only converted two of them so far, but under that you see "Attack Posture" and "Dent Armor". Now click on the Attack Posture link, see how it explains what it is, and then the Books are linked to the page. That is a logicaly nested hierarchy of information. ..."
This is EXACTLY what I was saying, and an hr after I posted this on your wall, you edited the pages in the example.
