As part of our Communication Improvement Project I have posted a proposal discussion on our forum to address inactive administrators and bureaucrats. A news item on our Main Page guides wiki users to the discussion. Please review the proposal, and contribute your best ideas regarding this recurring issue. Thank you.
I left you a message about a week ago regarding your appointment as a wiki bureaucrat. I have not seen any response from you so I am leaving you another message.
The value of our wiki is affected by the participation level of its leadership team. It is also affected by the ability of wiki users to contact members of that group. Whenever a wiki user cannot contact an active bureaucrat or administrator, our team falls short of its purpose of serving our wiki community.
I am currently attempting to identify which of our assigned bureaucrats are interested in actively fulfilling that role. I am also trying to determine the level of participation our wiki needs from its bureaucrats. It would help me greatly if I could receive your input on the matter in our forum discussion.
If you would prefer to resign your bureaucrat status, please use the User Rights tool to do so. Simply un-check the bureaucrat box in the section entitled "Groups you can change," and click the Save user groups button.
I hope you decide to help our leadership team assist our wiki move forward. If you instead decide to de-activate your bureaucrat position, I hope you will continue to submit your valuable wiki contributions. Thank you for helping us sort out this matter.
I recently invited you to participate in a forum discussion concerning the continued administration of this wiki. I had previously attempted to contact the only two wiki administrators who had been active during the previous 12 months. That was regarding a different issue at the time.
As I received no response from them, I initiated the forum discussion mentioned above. The Fallen Earth Unofficial Wiki has already incurred two incidents of broken administrative continuity since it's start in September 2006. I did not want to contribute to a wiki which would soon be filled with unmanageable spamming comments and similar nuisances.
After initiating the forum discussion, I also contacted the remaining three administrators to ensure due diligence - wholly expecting no response from them as well. Kindragon proved my expectations wrong when he responded within a few hours. Part of his response was assigning bureaucrat and administrator status to everyone I invited to the forum discussion. Although this was quite unexpected, it certainly solved the issue of administrative continuity. I am writing each of you today so you can understand how your wiki account was promoted to its current status.
Your participation as bureaucrat and administrator, however, should be a voluntary decision on your part. As wikis are designed to operate as collaborative efforts, I hope you will decide to accept your newly assigned roles here on the Fallen Earth Unofficial Wiki, and take an active role in its management. If, on the other hand, you prefer to contribute as a normal registered user, you may remove your newly assigned status with the User Rights tool. Simply enter your own user name in the data box to activate the tool. The check boxes will allow you to revoke your own user rights.
Please note that nobody else here can change your bureaucrat status. You will have to revoke it yourself. Bureaucrat status is what allowed Kindragon to promote each of us to the same level. However, even he cannot revoke it once it has been granted. Your administrator status is separate, and it pertains to other wiki functions.
Please respond to this message by adding your reply to the forum discussion previously opened. This will combine our comments on the issue at one central location for all to see. Thank you for your time. :)
I recently attempted to contact our wiki administrators, but received no response. It appears as though our administration team might be completely inactive as of late September. I hope this is not the case.
I have opened a forum topic at the Watercooler for active wiki contributors to discuss our situation. I hope you will review this important issue, and help us resolve it soon. Thanks for your time spent here on the wiki!
Heya! Thanks for saying hello, really made my evening :D Was a little distracted by all the duel challenges and people, sorry if i seemed like a bitch :/ Looks like you got the achievement for 100 days of consecutive editing, you addict! :P And over 1k photos added?!? You sir are awesome! Hope the wasteland is good to ya!
Ah, guess it was the 200 day one then lol. And don't worry you didn't. :P But like I said lemme know if you ever need help with anything, even missions that are giving you a rough time, I wouldn't mind running you through them.
Right on! Good to know that there are some nice people out there on the interwebs. I'll be sure to let you know if I have any trouble, but mostly I just enjoy the sun rising and setting, and scavenge for materials to keep my tradeskills maxed. Still haven't done the ATV mission, even :P Just hit lvl 25, been playing 369 hours :P
Nice job you have done (: I see a lot of pages you probably updated and thanks to that it made my FE wikia experience enjoyable, but still thousands that still need help and Ill do what I can when I run into them also (: Also, this post is for a badge lmao
Looking forward to the additional help. :) I've been mostly focused on adding missions to some of the Kaibab Forest sector, but there are still many missions left to add in Northfields, Deadfall, Terminal Woods, and Alpha County too.
Oh boy, Apha County will be fun! lol Ill work my way through terminal woods and get the way points dead accurate if they arent on the wikia, I see a lot of coordinates that were way off when I was looking for particular NPCs D:
I feel we need to make a new category for items that can be used, such as the dye kits/boosters/medicines. I just don't feel that the dyes should be listed as a consumable since you're not ingesting it, nor do the medicine items have the "can be consumed" label. So yeah, Category Items (Usable) or something along those lines would be more fitting. Also for the items that can be "opened" such as the Crafter Supply Parcel or Squishy Red Ant Queen Abdomen and possibly a way to link the items so they can show where they can be obtainted from on their page, similar to the "Sold By:" or "Found From" tabs.
