"The pains in my neck and shoulders has died down, but the lower back is still quite excruciating. I only wish I could stand, walk, and run again like I used to. It's been years since a woman looked at me with anything other than horror or pity. Oh, to be young and in Embry Crossroads... but those days are long gone. Maybe this fate is due punishment for my crimes, especially the crime of trying to cheat death."
