It starts off several months ago describing his family's flight from the Judges and later being turned back at the Wall.
In between, there's some mundane stuff about life in the canyon, but the last entry catches your eye. It is written not by Kurt but by his sister Amy Longworth.
Which entry do you read first?
First Entry
"Our home was destroyed. Our parents killed. South is not an option. Too many Judges. We have to head north. Maybe we can make it to Trader's Flat."
Second Entry
"I just can't let him go -- I have to follow them and figure this out, right things somehow. I'll make camp in an abandoned building to the southwest, if it's safe. I've drawn a map on the next page. If someone finds this, please help.
I'm starting to understand what I was connected to and why I was able to escape. I'll explain further to anyone who joins me."
Third Entry
"Kurt is dead now. If there is anyone left to read this, you must know. Something has happened to our settlement. Everyone, they just got up and started for the southwest, a collective movement - like some unspoken decision, but their eyes were vacant.
I felt the pull, too, but I managed to break free, Kurt... couldn't. I tried to stop him, and he turned on me. I had to kill him. I killed my own brother."
"Damn. I never thought the Vista could be so vicious. They opened fire and turned us away from the Wall! We didn't get hurt, luckily. Warning shots, I think. Shackleton is a bit too desperate for us. We're joining a group heading west to settle the empty canyon and stay out of sight. A fellow from the Open Book Society is organizing the move. He seems nice."

I see, please let me fill you in. The problem is bigger than I could have imagined. I-I don't know if we'll be able to do anything, but we have to try.
