Description

Defense Towns are locations that are attacked by waves of hostile NPCs. They come in the normal and veteran variants. The last wave includes a boss version of them.

The building housing the Town Crier has a timer for the next attack event and how many waves are left. Players from all factions are called to defend the town from the attackers.

The Mission building houses the NPC that gives a mission to defend the town and earn town defense tokens. These can be used to buy town specific materials. These areas also offer recipes for special Construction, Medicine, and Cooking items to aid players in the towns defense.

An icon on the world map serves as a reference to the current status of town (ex; time or waves remaining). If the players fail to defend the town, all building will be lost and the area will be considered "captured". To restart the event, all enemies must be cleared from the area.

Starting at level 25, players can accept the local town mission Barbarians at the Gate, as long as a Progress Mission Bundle is active on the town.

Defense Town Resource Nodes

Note: These nodes appear around the exterior of the town and not on the inside, not exactly around the building that generates it.

Up to ten of each Bundle can be placed at town, for a total of 30 node-generating buildings. Just remember that each one of these increase the enemies that arrive per wave, thus making defense harder.

Progress Water Tower Bundle 1 (maximum 10 active) generates the following nodes:

  • Log (90 skill, x0-6 Salvaged Wood)
  • Water Cactus (90 skill, x0-6 Tainted Water, x0-6 Questionable Water)
  • Tree Stump (90 skill, x0-6 Salvaged Wood, x0-6 Scrap Wood)
  • Thirsty Hydra Weed (level 30, 90 skill, x0-5 Mild Toxin, x0-6 Weak Botanic Chemical, x0-6 Blood Seed, x0-6 Impure Botanic Chemical, x0-1 Impure Antibiotic, x0-6 Weak Antibiotic)

Progress Windmill Bundle 2 (maximum 10 active) generates the following nodes:

  • Wind-Seeking Prairie Chicken (level 30, 90 skill, x0-6 Weak Biologic Chemical, x0-6 Cracked Egg)

Progress Pumpjack Bundle 3 (maximum 10 active) generates the following nodes:

  • Gas Can (90 skill, x0-6 Weak Petroleum, x0-6 Impure Acid, x0-6 Impure Geologic Chemical, x0-6 Mild Toxin, x0-6 Dilute Combustible)

Notes

  • The more Windmills, Water Towers and Pumpjacks are placed, the more resources it spawns, but the more enemies it adds per wave, thus making it harder to defend for a small team.
  • If taking it back from the first time, the Progress Bunker Bundle should be a priority to place at the entrance, so defense can be easier. Up to five of them can be placed.

Update History

  • Patch 1.9.3 October 4th, 2011
    • Added a limit to the number of Bunkers, windmills, water towers and pump jacks that can be placed in a single town.
    • Increased the maximum potential attackers per wave.
    • All Progress Town buildings have now been updated to the new models. .
